Reusable Contribution Chart for your Kid!

Shade completed tasks with a dry erase marker

Because everyone has something to give!

When I came across this, I knew our home had to have it. We’ve been kicking around ways to appoint our son responsibility and appropriately reward him for his efforts. This chart fits the bill. I found it on the Sutton Graceblog, and you can download the customizable chart here . Someone please hit the EASY button!

Steps for the Contribution/Chore Chart
  1. Print the chart
  2. Make it reusable.  Here are a couple options (let me know if you have more ideas!)
    • Laminate it, or
    • Frame it
I went with option B. I used an old picture frame I had in the crawl space, fun polka dot fabric I had in my stash, and decoupage. The fabric was cut into 2.5” strips then decoupage was applied to the frame and fabric in short sections. Let it dry completely.

     3. Add the chart to frame and VWOLLA – something functional and fun for you child.
     4. Find dry erase marker (scored one in the back of the junk drawer)
     5. Get to work!

Who knew work could be so much fun? My son was so excited about it, he ran downstairs to get the broom and sweep the floor!

Turn an ordinary crate into a toy container

If you can't beat 'em... at least make it look organized!

Didn't take baby long to figure out it's a box of fun!
Our living room has slowly morphed into toy-central - against my best efforts. If you can't beat it, make an organizer for it! So I had an plain wood crate sitting around in the garage. With a little paint and imagination, this is what I came up with. The entire project was inexpensive since I had all the materials on hand. The deep red paint used on the crate was leftover from painting our kitchen. I applied two coats then topped it off with another two coats of polyurethane. To jazz it up a little, I cut out some circles and applied decoupage to the front and back to adhere to the crate. On the burlap I used a template and used a black sharpie market to color it in. Easy peazy!

For this project I used:
  • wooden crate
  • paint
  • polyurethane
  • decoupage
  • paint brush
  • black sharpie marker
  • fabric and burlap
  • glitter glue!
  • glue gun (glue burlap to fabric and buttons)
To improve this, I might add little casters to the bottom so when loaded up with toys, it doesn't drag harshly across the carpet.

Whatcha think? Have you done something similar? I would love to hear about it!
